Local Accountant Named To NAWBO National Public Policy Leadership Team

Phoenix, AZ September 10, 2004 -- Sandra A. Abalos, Managing Partner of Abalos & Associates, P.C., has been named to the leadership team for National Public Policy representing the Phoenix Metropolitan Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). Considered an expert in the area of taxation, Abalos will lead the organization's taxation policy efforts. Taxation is a major national public policy issue that NAWBO is working on to transform change in the American public policy arena on issues that affect women business owners.

Abalos was the Small Business Administration's (SBA) 1996 National Accountant Advocate of the Year Award recipient, and is considered a national expert in the area of taxation and independent contractor status. She is also the Region IX Chair of the White House Conference on Small Business and provides small business insights to the Small Business Administration, the IRS, and Administration and Congressional bodies regarding tax issues. She has been recognized with awards by a number of organizations, including The Small Business Administration, Working Women Magazine, Arizona Women's News Choice Awards, Impact for Enterprising Woman, and the National Association of Women Business Owners, for excellence in Public Policy on both a local and national level. Most recently, she was named the 2002/2003 Business Owner of the Year by the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Phoenix Chapter and the 2003 Small Business Administration's Arizona Small Business Person of the Year.
